In the spring of 1997, I started out on my quest to figure out the perfect combination of strength training and nutrition that would allow me to become lean, mean, muscular and jacked!

I would force-feed myself Mega Mass 5000 after I would eat my meal of fish, eggs and potatoes.

I literally would have to pinch my nose to get it down.

But…

I didn’t care because I was on a mission!

Perhaps it was that period of time combined with being one of 4 brothers, that led to me having a legendary eating capacity and appetite…more on that later…

However, when it came time to follow my first ‘diet’, I failed miserably.  The diet was a 10 day program that would allow me to pack on 5 pounds of muscle, but that meant going NO CARB for a week! 

I was just shy of 18 years old at that time and I didn’t have it in me.

Over the past 27 years, I’ve pretty much seen it all and tried it all.

Which means I first had to learn the hard way WHAT DIDN’T WORK.

It was frustrating, because according to the X-Spurts, I was doing everything right.

I wound up developing what I call ‘Metabolic Damage’ through improper dieting, caloric and carb restriction and tons of exercise.

Then, in 2014, I began intermittent fasting for my two bodybuilding shows that summer and I knew I was ‘onto’ some THING. 

For the next 5 years, I plodded along, happy that I found intermittent fasting, practicing it religiously, but I STILL KNEW that there was more to it.

In 2019, I was sitting exactly where I am sitting right now, writing this, when I put my mind to the matter and started diving deeper into the world of fasting.

I jumped in once again, fully head on.

And BAM!

The results were staggering to say the least.  I went from 249.8 pounds with 16.8% body fat to 6.2% body fat at 225 pounds in just 13 weeks!!!

If you are a numbers person, you can do that math and deduct that I put on muscle in the process, and quite a bit of it!!!

It wasn’t just the SECRETS of fasting that I discovered, but the potent combination of the system of training that I had developed and learned over the years that created the perfect ‘internal, hormonal environment’ for me to pack on MUSCLE and SHRED BODY FAT!

After a good 13 weeks of testing and experimenting on myself, I once again sat at a crossroads.  Not because of confusion but because I knew I had to figure out a way to get this information out to the masses!

And just like that, the Panda Diet was created, followed shortly thereafter by my best selling book, The Panda Diet.

I ran my first ever Panda Challenge in the Spring of 2020 (yes, that spring, known for something else that was going on at the time, world wide) and the results were once again mindblowing!

I wasn’t an outlier, I now had 12 students that had lived the process and managed to put on muscle and lose fat!
